An inspiring figure for feminists around the world, US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died on Friday at the age of 87.

Asked by Europe 1, the president of the Women's Foundation, Anne-Cécile Mailfert, hailed this "bulwark of Donald Trump" and conservative ideas.

His death on Friday at the age of 87 sparked a wave of emotions in the United States.

She was an icon in the fight for women's rights.

At the microphone of Europe 1, the president of the Women's Foundation praised her commitment to a fight that goes beyond American borders.

"It was a bulwark against Donald Trump and conservative ideas," says Anne-Cécile Mailfert.

"The rights of women in the USA and France are still quite linked."

"I found it extremely inspiring, too, to see how this tiny, frail old lady single-handedly could stand in the way and preserve the rights of all women in the United States," said the president of the Women's Foundation, citing in particular the commitment of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in favor of the right to abortion.

The chief lawyer of the American equivalent of the League of Human Rights was also invested in the legalization of same-sex marriage.

For the French activist, the personality of the American judge must inspire feminist struggles as far as Europe, and particularly in France: "The rights of women in the USA and in France are nevertheless quite linked."
