Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said today (20th) regarding the COVID-19 quarantine countermeasures, "Because it is a week ahead of the special quarantine period during the Chuseok holiday, it is necessary to maintain the current phase 2 even outside the metropolitan area."

At a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Corona 19, Prime Minister Chung said, "Recently, the situation is better than the metropolitan area as there are an average of around 20 confirmed cases per day outside the metropolitan area, but there are new cases of contagious infection and the path of unknown confirmation. "I can't let go of the string," he said.

Prime Minister Jung said, "The number of confirmed cases has come down to double digits a day in 38 days since August 13th. It is good news, but recently, the number of confirmed cases with unknown infection routes continues to increase and the number of diagnostic tests decreases. Given that, I can never feel relieved.”

He pointed out, "Moreover, the recent adjustment of quarantine measures in the metropolitan area has been misrepresented by some as a relief message, and there are also situations where the alertness has loosened."

He said, "Before the start of the Chuseok holiday, the number of confirmed cases per day should be lowered to double digits, so that the national holiday should be met with the quarantine network working properly."

Prime Minister Chung also requested that people refrain from moving and visiting dense areas during the Chuseok holiday, he said, "I hope this Chuseok will become a'festival for the family' rather than a'festival with the family'."

“Many citizens are struggling day by day due to the prolonged distance, but please do not lose hope and gather strength,” he said. “In order to alleviate the difficulties of the citizens a little, the government also has the 4th supplementary administration as soon as it is confirmed by the National Assembly. We will prepare ahead of time for execution.”
