• Last minute: all the information about the coronavirus health crisis

More than 200 municipal police in the city of Madrid will be in charge of establishing the 60 random and dissuasive controls in the perimeters established in the basic restricted health areas from this Monday in the capital.

This has been confirmed by the Security and Emergency delegate of the Madrid City Council, Inmaculada Sanz, during the meeting of the Territorial Plan for Civil Protection (Platercam) that will establish the lines of action in the 37 points with restrictions.

The police work, in which the Government Delegation will also collaborate by contributing National Police officers, will be "informative in nature" during "the first 48 hours", as explained by the Minister of Justice and the Interior, Enrique López.

And after those first days will come the sanctions for those who fail to comply with the current regulations.

"If the involvement and delivery of security and emergency services is essential to subdue the virus, the role of citizens is no less so," said the counselor in his speech.

The Municipal Police, as indicated by Inmaculada Sanz, will have three areas of action in these controls: restrictions on mobility, control of capacity and closing times and the guarantee of compliance with quarantines.

"We are convinced that our emergency services will carry out this task to stop the pandemic to a successful conclusion," the municipal delegate remarked.

This municipal device will be established through street patrols and will focus on areas of special concentration of people such as schools or markets, as EL MUNDO has already advanced.

That will be the main difference with respect to the months of the state of alarm where vehicle controls were the general trend applied by the capital's security forces.

For the reinforcement in these areas, the Municipal Police Directorate sent an order yesterday in which it established to send a patrol with two components to the affected districts from the Central South, Central North, Salamanca, Retiro, Tetuán and Chamberí Unit, which They will attend the morning shift (7.30 am) and the afternoon shift (3.15 pm).
