Yemeni local sources told Al-Jazeera that yesterday, Saturday, the Emirati-backed Transitional Council militants unloaded an Emirati ship in a port in the Socotra archipelago, despite the Yemeni government's demands for the Saudi forces guarding the port not to allow this.

The sources added that the council pushed demonstrators loyal to it to demonstrate in front of the port of "Holaf" in Socotra, before the STC militants began unloading the ship's cargo and transported it to the yard of a fish factory run by the UAE and guarded by foreigners brought in by Abu Dhabi.

The government had requested not to allow the ship, which was not subject to inspection and did not obtain approval, to be unloaded, amid information about the UAE’s transfer of communications and military equipment to establish military bases for it in the archipelago.

Al-Jazeera obtained a memorandum submitted by the Director General of Socotra Port, Riyadh Suleiman to Salem Al-Khanbashi, Deputy Prime Minister of Yemen, Acting Minister of Transport, informing him of the entry of the Emirati ship "AD ASTRE" in a violation, without permission from the port authorities and without completing the official procedures in accordance with law and order .

A local source said that the unloading of the ship's cargo would not have taken place had it not been for the complicity of the Saudi forces in Socotra and their exchange of roles with the Emirati forces.
