“Tawteen”: The UAE is the first Arab country to grant parental leave to “private” employees

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that the UAE has become the first Arab country to grant parental leave to private sector employees, stressing that this step constitutes a development in the UAE labor market.

The ministry stated that it was approved to grant the employee "father or mother" in the private sector a paid leave for a period of 5 working days to care for his child from the date of the child's birth until the completion of 6 months.
