The American Wall Street Journal revealed a sharp dispute between Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the wake of the Emirati agreement on normalization with Israel.

According to an article published by the newspaper on Friday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman wanted to sign the normalization agreement with Israel after the UAE and Bahrain, but King Salman opposed that.

The newspaper added that the king has for many years supported boycotting Israel and demanding an independent Palestinian state, but his son wants to establish trade relations with Israel, establish a united front against Iran, and bypass the Israeli-Palestinian conflict "because it is a difficult conflict."

They pointed out that the Saudi king was severely shocked during his vacation when US President Donald Trump announced an agreement between Israel and the UAE on August 13 to normalize relations between them.

The newspaper stated that the reason for this shock was that the Saudi crown prince did not inform his father in advance of the agreement between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi.

She indicated that after the announcement of the Israeli-Emirati normalization agreement, the Saudi king asked his foreign minister to reaffirm his country's commitment to establishing a Palestinian state.

After that, a member of the royal family - who is close to the Saudi king - wrote an article in a Saudi-owned newspaper in which he renewed his country's position, and indicated that the UAE should pressure Israel to make more concessions.

The newspaper reported that during a meeting between Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, and the crown prince in Saudi Arabia, Prince bin Salman said his father would not accept a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The Crown Prince affirmed that the most that the Kingdom can do at the present time - due to the objection of the Saudi king - is to contribute to the accession of small Bahrain to the normalization agreement with Israel.
