US judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies - Page 1

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the oldest judge at the US Supreme Court, is dead. She died at the age of 87 in her home in Washington, the Supreme Court announced on Friday (local time).

The cause of death was pancreatic cancer. 

Ginsburg recently announced that her cancer had returned and that she was undergoing chemotherapy.

She had had cancer four times before. 

The top lawyer was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1993 by then President Bill Clinton. Many liberals consider her an icon, among other things she became known as a champion for women's rights.
