China News Agency reporter Wu Lan

Yan Jinchang, a farmer in Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County, Anhui Province, stopped farming five years ago.

In 2015, he transferred all his 35 acres of farmland out, and concentrated his efforts on farming with his family.

Yan Jinchang, one of the leaders of China's rural reform "out of contract".

In December 1978, the 35-year-old, together with 17 other farmers in Xiaogang Village, risked "going to jail" by pressing a red handprint on a "secret contract" of dividing land to households, and dividing collective land to each household. Hu, the first Chinese agricultural "large contract responsibility", opened the prelude to China's rural reform.

Now, when I saw this 77-year-old man, he was sturdy and greeted the guests enthusiastically in the "Jinchang Restaurant", sharing the 40 years from "not enough to eat" to "eating well" to "advocating food saving "s story.

Can't eat enough to break new paths

"Mud doors, mud walls, and thin soup in mud holes." This is the common situation in Xiaogang Village more than 40 years ago; "Dried sweet potatoes, sweet potato buns, you can't live without sweet potatoes." It also became the mantra of Xiaogang people.

According to Yan Jinchang, in order to solve the problem of eating, the villagers walked into Yan Lihua’s home on a cold night in December 1978, signed and pressed their fingerprints, and distributed the production team’s land, cattle, and farm tools to each family overnight. Everyone is more enthusiastic about farming and realizes "turn over and change the face in one year."

On the wall of the Dabaogan Memorial Hall in Xiaogang Village, a set of data tells the changes in the “turning over” that year: from 1966 to 1976, the annual per capita ration in Xiaogang Village was about 200 jin.

In 1979, the first year of the implementation of the large-scale contract, the total grain output in Xiaogang Village exceeded 130,000 catties, four times the previous average.

The per capita income of 400 yuan (RMB, the same below) is 18 times that of 1978.

"Back then, the signing of the'contract' and the pressing of the fingerprint, no one thought that not only did they realize their own food and clothing, but also solved the food problem of hundreds of millions of Chinese people." Yan Jinchang said.

Can't be lazy

With their own diligence and the liberation of production capacity, the villagers in Xiaogang quickly solved the problem of "eat well" and "eat well".

Yan Jinchang said, people can't be lazy, although life is better, but you still have to roll up your sleeves and work hard!

In 2008, Yan Jinchang's family opened a farmhouse. At that time, there were only 4 tables, and the popularity was not high. However, farming and opening a shop were "grabbing with both hands", and life was rushing.

Later, as Xiaogang Village was approved as a national 4A tourist attraction, more and more tourists went to Xiaogang for sightseeing.

In 2018, Xiaogang Village received more than one million domestic and foreign tourists, reaching 1.15 million in 2019.

The business of Yan Jinchang's "Jinchang Restaurant" is also getting better and better.

Yan Jinchang, who is not idle, not only works in the "Jinchang Restaurant", but also manages the orchard.

"Everyone in the family is making money, and life is getting more and more prosperous."

No matter how good life is, we must save

At the entrance of Xiaogang Village, creative agricultural scenes such as "Chinese Food", "Chinese Rice Bowl", and "Xiaogang Village" came into view. Some people "checked in" to take pictures at this online celebrity place.

According to Li Jinzhu, the first secretary of the Party Committee of Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County, in December 2018, all the poor in Xiaogang Village had been lifted out of poverty.

In 2019, the per capita disposable income of villagers was 25,600 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%.

Since 2018, the village collective economic stock cooperative has distributed 350 yuan, 520 yuan, and 580 yuan to each villager for three consecutive years.

At present, Xiaogang Village has succeeded in changing from "households for land and land" to "shareholding by everyone" through continuous deepening of reforms in key rural areas.

Xiaogang Village is beautiful and rich, but Yan Jinchang and the people of Xiaogang Village have a special affection for food and fields.

Yan Jinchang said: "We were scared when we were hungry, knowing that food was not easy to come by."

"It doesn't hurt to eat, it hurts badly." He said, "Although I am a restaurant owner now, I am not afraid of big belly, but I still have to save food."

Yan Jinchang believes that the current advocacy to stop food waste is really "speaking of the hearts of the people."

In the "Jinchang Restaurant", Yan Jinchang reminds guests from time to time: "Eat as much, order as much, and don't waste it." (End)
