China News Service, Taizhou, September 19 (Fan Yubin, Zhao Yun) The general meeting of the Federation of Overseas Chinese in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province is just around the corner. Ruan Wenbing, chairman of the Taizhou Chamber of Commerce in Uganda, reviewed the ups and downs of the past year in an interview with reporters.

Under the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Nguyen Van Bing unshirkably assumed social responsibilities far beyond the status of ordinary entrepreneurs and led the Chamber of Commerce to transport urgently needed medical supplies from Uganda back to his hometown; Uganda's company closed due to the epidemic, but he stopped work without stopping his salary , Pay more than 400 local employees as usual...

After graduating from University in 2003, Nguyen Van Bing was admitted to the civil servant at the basic level, but he gave up his stable career.

The world is so big, he wants to break into it.

Under the introduction of his uncle, Ruan Wenbing went to Uganda to work as an interpreter for a clothing operator.

A year later, he discovered the huge business opportunities in selling mobile phones locally, so he quit his job to start a business.

He mainly sells domestic brand mobile phones in the local area, and the excellent price-performance ratio has made Ruan Wenbing's business flourishing.

After some hard work, he became the Uganda general agent of Tecno, the "King of African Mobile Phones", and owns the largest local mobile phone wholesale company and mobile phone retail chain company, with more than 50 chain stores.

At the same time, he also invests in local real estate and mobile payment industries.

In January 2017, the Uganda Taizhou Chamber of Commerce was established, and Ruan Van Bing was elected as its chairman.

In the early part of the Spring Festival this year, Ruan Wenbing returned to his hometown Wenling to celebrate the New Year as in previous years.

Later, when the epidemic broke out and medical supplies in various places were in urgency, he mobilized the Uganda Chamber of Commerce to transport 75,000 medical masks and 1,000 N95 masks from Uganda, which strongly supported the fight against the epidemic in his hometown.

On March 21, the Uganda Ministry of Health announced the country’s first confirmed case of new coronary pneumonia.

From 12 o'clock on March 22, Uganda closed its border crossings.

Faced with the current situation of being unable to return to Uganda in a short period of time, considering that Uganda’s economy is underdeveloped, and the average family has many children and no savings, Ruan Van Bing decided to purchase a batch of daily necessities in the name of the company and distribute it to each employee, and give employees one month in advance. wage.

Soon, Uganda issued a "foot ban", and Ruan Wenbing’s company could not open its doors for business. He said, "The company’s loss is inevitable, but I am worried that employees will be infected with the virus and fear that their lives will be difficult. Salaries are paid as usual."

In Ruan Wenbing's view, the employees have paid a lot during the development of the company. During the epidemic, he has the responsibility to take care of them and help them tide over the difficulties.

It was not until June 2 that the company resumed operations one after another.

"He is a sincere, enthusiastic, innovative and pioneering person." Pan Shihua, vice president of the Taizhou Chamber of Commerce in Uganda, said that Ruan Wenbing has given him great help in life and work.

"When it is inconvenient for me to go out to investigate, he sends a driver to help me; I have doubts about foreign legal provisions, and he actively helps me inquire his lawyer."

In Uganda, the Chamber of Commerce is like a warm home.

A female Chinese who is enthusiastic about public welfare found that the facilities of the Kampala school for the disabled are very simple and many children need help.

After learning about the situation, the Uganda Taizhou Chamber of Commerce immediately issued an initiative to its members, hoping that everyone would contribute money and help to the children.

The reporter learned that the Uganda Taizhou Chamber of Commerce has donated more than 40,000 yuan in cash and materials to 180 students from poor families and some disabled children, and promised to visit them every year.

Living in a foreign country, Taizhou businessmen never forget to promote Chinese culture and Taizhou culture.

In January this year, the Chinese Embassy in Uganda decided to hold a Spring Festival temple fair in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

"This is a good time to showcase Taizhou culture." Ruan Wenbing immediately organized the Chamber of Commerce to participate.

After discussion, the members of the Chamber of Commerce decided to sell Taizhou specialties such as cake cones and stone lotus paste at the temple fair, and brought special ingredients such as stone lotus seeds, pickles, and vermicelli from Wenling, Taizhou.

The income of the temple fair is used as the funds of the chamber of commerce for various public welfare activities.

“Through the Taizhou Chamber of Commerce in Uganda, the Taizhou businessmen in a foreign country have been twisted into a single rope to solve various contradictions, provide business guidance, and carry out public welfare activities so that everyone can better integrate into the local life.” This is what Ruan Wenbing understands. The Chamber of Commerce is also the direction he has been working hard.
