Clans themselves do not cause crime.

That's what L-leader Nyamko Sabuni says.

- I would say myself that I am from a clan society.

There are large parts of the world that have to organize their lives in the form of clans because there is no society that assists.

The police force is not for the citizens but rather an enemy, she tells DN.

She also says that clans will always exist, and should exist:

- As long as you do not violate Swedish law, respect gender equality and do not violate children's rights.

"Held together by concepts of honor"

Sabuni believes that it is family-based criminal gangs that cause problems, which is not the same as clans.

- Family-based criminal gangs often consist of families held together by concepts of honor.

There can be both moral policing and radicalization.

All this has been gathered, especially in our most vulnerable suburbs, she says.

Should be taken out of their residential area

Among other things, Sabuni highlights the problems with boys and young men who commit crimes.

She says that they live under strongly patriarchal traditions, and sometimes may themselves be subjected to violence.

Then there is the risk that they take out their frustration on others.

- For these young men, it is crucial that they are taken out of their home environment and their living area, she says.

To succeed in this, the police should have greater opportunities to act, Sabuni says.

- I see a problem in the fact that today we have laws that give the police the right to bring a pet that is abused but can not take a child.

The child can stay and then the police can report concerns to the social services office, she says.

- I am convinced that there have been such situations where the police have been able to judge that here we should bring this child.
