Racing 92 will host the English club Saracens, defending champion, in the semifinals of the European Cup after their success in Clermont (36-27) on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

The Saracens dominated the Irish Leinster (25-17) in the other quarter-final.

The semi-final is scheduled for September 26, at the Arena de La Défense.

The two teams had faced each other during the group stage: Racing 92 had first beaten the Sarries (30-10) then, already assured of first place in their group, had narrowly lost in England (27- 24).

The Ile-de-France residents scored two tries by Louis Dupichot (2nd) and François Trinh-Duc (38th) in the first period, enough to get rid of Clermontois too undisciplined.

The Racingmen have a third success in a row, in all competitions, after beating Lyon (27-23) then Montpellier (41-17) during the first two days of Top 14.

Carried by their scrum half Teddy Iribaren (20 points), who sanctioned the Clermont indiscipline (sixteen penalties, a yellow card for Etienne Falgoux), the Ile-de-France residents nevertheless played with fire at the end of the game, conceding three tries, suddenly immediately, by Wesley Fofana (59th), Kotaro Matsushima (69th) and Damian Penaud (76th).

Too late.
