Europe 1 went to meet the students of the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne, who are making their comeback in the very specific context of the coronavirus epidemic.

Between limited means for remote work and absence of traditional evenings at the beginning of the year, they admit to being "a little lost".

Nearly three million students are currently going back to school, against the backdrop of the resumption of the coronavirus epidemic and with already identified sources of contamination in recognized schools.

While students are right in the age group which is recording a rebound in Covid 19 cases, the Minister of Higher Education has therefore launched an appeal for responsibility to stem the spread of the virus.

Result: for the students currently accommodated in the universities, the hour is with the uncertainty, even with the anguish, as was able to note it Europe 1 in Bordeaux-Montaigne.

"I don't do student parties"

"Already the university is not easy, it is sure that we do not have a start like the others", laments a student.

"A little lost", "worried", the young people met on campus repeat their apprehension in the face of an epidemic which calls into question the ways of teaching, but also internships or stays abroad, for example.

"Remote work is complicated," laments a student.

"The coronavirus is something that worries me, I hang out with my grandparents a lot so I don't do student parties," adds another.

This year, the integration weekend has been canceled anyway, as have the traditional back-to-school evenings.

On this point, Lionel Larré, president of the University, welcomes the responsible behavior of his students. 

"Many students are not equipped"

Regarding the organization of courses, the tonnage has been seriously revised downwards in the large amphitheatres, reduced to 30% of their capacity, with distance courses.

But "many students are not equipped", laments the president.

"We try to lend computers to those who do not have them, but clearly we do not have enough computers to lend them. The state really needs to take its responsibilities to help the universities," he said. -he.

"We have released the means for each student to have a 'Zoom' account in order to be able to teach live, by videoconference," adds Lionel Larré.

"But we don't have video recording equipment in all the rooms ..."
