First, a woman came into a store in central Gävle to return an item purchased this week.

However, the store had discovered that the banknotes used in the purchase were counterfeit, and could see it when the woman wanted to make a return.

The deal called the police, and the staff tried to get the woman to stay, but she left before the patrol arrived.

An hour or so later, another call came to the police - this time it was a man who tried to shop with a fake five hundred kronor note in a supermarket.

The staff discovered that the banknote was not real and could stop the purchase, but even there the man had left the place before the police arrived.

The counterfeit banknotes were seized and reports were made of both incidents, reports police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl.

The suspicion concerns fraud and illegal employment with counterfeit banknotes, but it is not known whether the two cases are linked.
