Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance infectious disease specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health, believes that there will be no second wave of coronavirus infection in the country.

“We expect that after all this will not be the second wave, but a slight rise in the incidence rate.

The second wave should be talked about when the first wave is completely completed.

We are still only seeing a decrease in the incidence after that first wave - this is mainly April this year, ”TASS quotes the words of an infectious disease specialist.

According to him, it is correct to talk about "a certain seasonal rise in the incidence."

Chulanov noted that an increase in the incidence should be expected in September-October.

“The increase in morbidity is associated with the beginning of the school year, the working year, as new school teams, student and work teams are beginning to form, many have returned from vacations.

This leads to closer social contacts and, accordingly, to a slight increase in the incidence ... This is not something ... unusual, "added the specialist.

Note that in Moscow, the number of new cases of coronavirus disease detected per day was 825.

per day

, now the volume of PCR testing has reached 66 thousand, "the mayor said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

According to him, the increase in the number of studies is also due to the fact that many citizens have returned from holidays and must pass tests for coronavirus.

In addition, in the fall, cases of colds become more frequent, and people, feeling unwell, also go to clinics to check if they have contracted COVID-19, Sobyanin added.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, to date, 42.4 million laboratory tests have been carried out in Russia for the presence of a new coronavirus.
