CNN reported on the 19th local time that a mail containing the toxic substance'Richine' was sent to US President Donald Trump and was blocked by law enforcement authorities.

Two law enforcement officials reported that mail sent to President Trump earlier this week contained the poisonous Lichin, and authorities blocked the delivery of the mail, CNN said.

Authorities conducted two tests to confirm Lichin's existence.

All mail to the White House is sorted and screened at an external facility before arriving at the White House.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the White House Secret Service, and the Postal Inspection Service are investigating the matter, CNN explained.

According to Reuters, the mail, believed to have come from Canada, was blocked at a government mailing center before reaching the White House, some media reported.

Lichin, a substance extracted from castor seeds and made through a separate purification process, is a poison that can lead to death even when exposed to a very small amount of 0.001g.

Lichin has been used in terrorist plots and can be used in powder, pill, spray or acid form, CNN said.
