Downloading of the video sharing application TikTok in the United States has been stopped, and the use of WeChat, a Chinese mobile messenger, is prohibited at all.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US Department of Commerce has announced that the policy will be implemented starting on the 20th.

The Ministry of Commerce mentioned the possibility that TikTok and WeChat collected users' network, location, and internet browsing information data could be handed over to the CCP.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told Fox Business that TikTok will be ordered to cease its use on November 12 following a ban on downloads.

The use of WeChat itself is prohibited, so sending money from the United States to WeChat is blocked.

WeChat is considered an essential app for everyday life in China, covering various functions ranging from chat and payment to digital business and news.

The number of WeChat downloads in the United States reaches 19 million.

Major US companies such as Apple, Wal-Mart, Disney, Ford Motor Company, Intel, and Goldman Sachs have also communicated concerns to the White House about the adverse effects of the WeChat ban.
