The Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs in Kuwait, Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, said that US President Donald Trump awarded the Order of Military Merit with the rank of Supreme Commander to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during a ceremony at the White House.

The Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs added in a statement that this honor comes in recognition of the great and tireless efforts and the great role that the Emir of Kuwait leads in the region and the world, and a culmination of the historical and distinguished partnership relations between Kuwait and the United States.

Earlier, the White House announced in a statement today, Friday, that US President Donald Trump will award the American Order of Merit with the rank of Supreme Commander to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, explaining that it is the first time that this honor has been awarded since 1991.

And on behalf of the Emir of Kuwait at the ceremony, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the eldest son of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Medal of Military Merit with the rank of Commander in Chief is one of the highest military honors that the US President usually bestows - but rarely - to leaders of allied countries during certain historical periods.
