Closed in June, every third visitor dropped in July and every other in August.

This is how the summer can be summed up for Bohuslän's museum, an outcome that is recognizable in most Swedish museums according to a recent survey.

But for Bohuslän's museum, the visits are not decisive for the economy.

- We have free admission, so we do not lose that part.

What happens is that we get fewer conference visits, says Sebastian Thorén, communicator.

Well-visited museum

The museum is usually one of Sweden's most visited regional museums.

Sebastian Thorén believes that the visitor figures for July look so good from a national perspective is that the museum is an established cultural arena for Uddevalla and the surrounding area.

When the Bohus loans have "hemestrated", the museum has been a destination.

- The people of Uddevalla are very frequent museum visitors in general and in surveys have been the city dwellers in Sweden who have visited museums most often, he says.

Custom exhibition

This weekend, the museum's most recently produced exhibition, We Birds, will be inaugurated, which would actually open in May.

But because the museum was then completely closed, they postponed the premiere and made some adjustments to the design.
