Self-care or self-care is not just about bubble baths, vacations, massages or any other form of relaxation.

But the truth is that besides that, it means the sincere actions of taking care of yourself and standing up for what you are doing.

True self-interest might be taking long walks, doing some yoga, playing your favorite games, and going to bed early.

Taking care of yourself should fit your specific needs and yearning to be a healthy, physically and mentally healthy person.

Maybe what makes you feel happy is cleaning your desk, says writer Kristi Tandge on Medium.

It is true that this is not everyone's favorite business, but a clean office will look great when you sit down on it and bring out your unique ideas into the world.

Maybe it is dancing in your house with headphones to your favorite song.

If it brings you joy and makes you feel more alive, then why not.

And it might just be just closing your eyes and taking 5 deep breaths to reset your nervous system. The key is to stay present with yourself and do your best.

Self-care and no indulgence

Self-interest isn't just an endless amount of watching movies, eating ice cream and chocolates, and relaxing, says Tandaj.

This is self-indulgence and not self-care.

Self-care may mean waking up an hour early to go out to nature.

It might mean doing yoga when you are angry, or tackling your nervous way of dealing with things and being calm.

Do the tough chores

Sometimes, taking care of yourself means doing the difficult things, or challenging yourself to accomplish the tough tasks in order to be able to build your career future that you want to achieve, or even you can leave your job and do your own dream project.

To be proud of yourself

You may not feel it now, but gradually you will be able to build confidence in what you are doing.

You will know your capabilities when you fight laziness and do the work you should get done in time.

It is difficult at first, but over time your willpower will improve.

It might be tough right now, but it's worth trying and continuing. Strive and fight back.

Don't look for perfection

You cannot use self-care as another weapon against yourself by self-flagellation and the search for perfection, be kind to yourself, even when you forget or become distracted.

Just go ahead and be as compassionate as possible for yourself.

Perhaps your self-care today is just remembering to drink enough water, rather than scolding yourself for not drinking enough water.

Think about your current situation

If you want to do art, for example, because it makes you happy, do it right away, don't wait until you buy supplies for the huge amount that is not available, or until you learn how to be a great artist, do not put pressure on yourself because you are not good enough.

Just start practicing the art because it is fun and feels good.

If you want to lose weight, go for a walk with your partner or friend.

Run after your kids, make it fun.

Small verbs first

Take care of yourself because you deserve to be cared for just the way you are - you don't have to get to somewhere, or be a different person before you deserve it.

Start with the smallest things, and develop them into bigger challenges, until you get where you want.

In an article on the American Forbes website, writer Lidega Globocar adds some other steps that help build a self-care routine:

Start knowing what is good for you

This is the hardest part but it is the indispensable step where you need to know what is good for you, what you should avoid, and what areas of your life may you have neglected?

Which is going well?

Suitable fuel

When you stop at the gas station, you make sure that you choose the right type of petrol for your car, and this applies to you and your body.

Nourish your body with real food, and think twice about what to put on your plate.

We eat a lot of what our body does not need and we do not provide adequate fuel.

It's not just about dieting - you're trying to starve or restrict yourself.

It's all about enjoying healthy food, eating lots of vegetables and choosing healthy protein sources. You have to pay attention to what you eat and enjoy every bite.

Press the pause button

We all need breaks, no matter if it is days off travel, lunch breaks or taking a deep breath of fresh air during the workday, breaks matter.

Research shows that short breaks during the day increase your productivity, as well as help you de-stress and thus improve your mental health.

Develop healthy habits

40% to 45% of what we do every day is a habit.

Half the time we are basically working we repeat what we always used to do.

Therefore, it is best to develop new healthy habits for yourself that are easy for you to do daily. When developing a good daily habit, this will help you feel better and happy.

Like every morning thinking about the many blessings and qualities that you have, and thanking God for them.

Over time, your mind will automatically focus on the positive rather than the negative.
