The County Administrative Board's decision on protection hunting of the wolf was appealed this week and in the meantime the hunting was stopped.
On Friday, the administrative court ruled in favor of the county administrative board, but the appellant can submit further material until 23 September.
Meanwhile, the wolf is allowed to be hunted.
- Now the hunting team has the right to conduct protection hunting for a wolf within the designated protection hunting area.
That is the decision, says Martin Broberg, predator administrator at the county administrative board.
Unknown where the wolf is
At present, it is unknown where the wolf is and the county administrative board is dependent on public observations.
- We want people to report.
If the wolf is inside the hunting area, we may conduct protection hunting.
How big is the area?
- It includes the northern parts of Varbergs municipality and into a small tab in Kungsbacka municipality.
It was designed so as to capture the main area where attacks have been, says Martin Broberg.
So the wolf has a chance to stay away?
- Yes, if it is somewhere else, we must not hunt it according to this decision.
