  • A 36-year-old man was indicted and remanded in custody for the kidnapping of two young girls he drugged, in Charente maritime.

  • He was arrested thanks to the robot portrait drawn by the two victims.

    He admitted the facts.

Two kidnapping cases have been linked.

A 36-year-old man was indicted and remanded in custody for having kidnapped under threat and then drugged before releasing them, a 17-year-old teenager then an 11-year-old girl in Charente-Maritime.

The man, known to justice for acts of aggravated violence in 2007 and 2009, admitted during his police custody "having kidnapped these two young girls by having acted under the influence of impulses and premonitions", specifies the prosecutor of Saintes, Nicolas Septe.

Kidnapped at gunpoint

On September 10, the mother of an 11-year-old girl reported her disappearance as she returned from her college in Royan.

Shortly after, the girl was walking home, having been dropped off not far from there by her captor, "greatly shocked and apparently under the influence of drugs".

She then recounted "having been abducted by a man at the threat of a weapon (a revolver or a pistol) then having been obliged to take medication" before being escorted back to her home, specifies the prosecutor.

Royan investigators then made the link with a similar case in a neighboring town: the kidnapping on August 26 of a 17-year-old girl in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, also threatened by her kidnapper, in using a knife, then sedated and finally released a few hours later "without having suffered a priori violence other than that linked to her kidnapping and confinement".

A decisive robot portrait

The La Rochelle judicial police were then seized by the prosecution, then the central office for the fight against violence against people.

The description of the kidnapper by the two victims allowed the realization of a robot portrait.

A judicial information of the count of kidnapping and sequestration of several people and administration of harmful substance on a minor of 15 years, was opened by the public prosecutor's office of Saintes on September 14, which indicates that "the same evening a suspect was apprehended and placed in guard on sight ”.

A search of his home allowed "to formally establish his involvement in the two kidnappings", and the man admitted the facts.

"Other investigations will remain necessary to establish precisely the motive of these kidnappings", estimates the prosecutor.
