These are burning waste that fell from a garbage truck that would have caused a fire to start north of Libourne on Thursday, according to the Gironde firefighters.

Result: nearly 130 ha of pine and brush went up in smoke.

Since the start of the fire this Thursday afternoon, the traffic of the LGV Paris - Bordeaux has been deported on the old line, causing delays of 30 to 45 minutes, said France Uranga, spokesperson for LISEA, line dealer.

The traffic was still disrupted this Friday in the middle of the day.

130 firefighters mobilized

The fire, set this Friday morning, consumed 123 ha in Lapouyade, and 6 ha in the neighboring town of Laruscade.

Some 130 firefighters were mobilized, with reinforcements from neighboring departments, and two water bombers were still carrying out rotations this Friday morning.

The Gironde has known a great drought since the beginning of the summer and the firefighters are on orange alert for the risk of fire.
