At ten o'clock in the morning, a woman drove in her car north on the E4 near Lagan.

Due to roadworks, only one lane in each direction was open.

Even though it was a solid line, the woman started driving around the camper that lay in front of her.

But when she discovered that a truck was coming in the other lane, she braked and lay down behind the camper again.

Panicked with the truck

The truck driver who came driving south panicked when he saw that the woman was driving around the camper and was lying in his lane.

Then a garbage truck that was standing on the truck's flatbed came loose.

It hit the camper that was heavily demolished.

The driver of the motorhome was pinned down and had to be released by the rescue service before.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

She denies that she caused the accident

The woman has said in interrogation that she did not see that it was a solid line and that she was only out in the left lane for a few seconds before she interrupted the overtaking.

She denies responsibility for the crime and believes that it was not she who caused the traffic accident to the surface that the garbage truck was too poorly anchored.

A preliminary investigation was started into the anchoring of the sweeper, but it was discontinued.

But the district court finds that it was the woman's careless driving that led to the truck driver panicking and that this was why the garbage truck came loose and injured the driver in the motorhome.

The woman is sentenced for causing bodily injury and negligence in traffic to a suspended sentence and daily fine.
