China News Service, Haikou, September 18 (Reporter Li Mingyang) When you walk into the Hainan Provincial Museum, the first thing you see is a huge sailing boat. This is the epitome of the people of Hainan who have been ploughing the ocean for generations and braving the horizon.

Hainan is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China.

According to statistics, there are currently more than 3.9 million overseas Chinese of Qiong origin.

There are more than 1.3 million returned overseas Chinese in Hainan, and overseas Chinese have a profound cultural heritage.

On the afternoon of the 17th, the reporter followed the "Dream of China and Entering the Free Trade Port" overseas Chinese media Hainan Collection Group, and walked into the Hainan Provincial Museum in Haikou City to search for the "overseas Chinese elements".

"Cultivate the ancestral sea from generation to generation, and pass on from generation to generation to be a seaman", the South China Sea is the source of life for coastal residents of Hainan Island.

They live by the sea, are born by the sea, and rely on the adventurous spirit of a lifetime of nine deaths to go to Southeast Asia and the West.

Boats are an important tool for exploring the ocean.

In the exhibition hall of the Hainan Museum, various sailing models are displayed.

During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, China's shipbuilding and navigation industries were already very developed.

At that time, the main sailboats were called "Guangzhou Ship", which is a ship built in Guangdong, and another type called "Fuchuan", which is a ship built by Fu.

Fortune ship has a pointed bow, wide tail, and both ends are upturned. It has good mobility at sea and is not easy to capsize when encountering big winds and waves. It is suitable for ocean navigation.

During long-term fishing and voyage activities, Hainan fishermen recorded various information such as navigation routes, the location of islands and reefs, and even ocean currents and monsoons, and hand-copied them into a book called "Genglu Book".

The yellowed booklets are an invaluable treasure handed down from generation to generation by Hainan fishermen. They are not only a testimony to the development of the South China Sea, but also an important symbol of China's historic rights in the South China Sea.

The voyage cargo ships transported a large number of exquisite Chinese appliances to various countries in Southeast Asia, and the Chinese returning home from Nanyang also brought the local architectural style and lifestyle back to Hainan.

In the Qiongdong area, the traditional folk house culture has always been influenced by the folk house culture of Fujian and Guangdong and the culture of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia, forming three main types: Nanyang style dwellings, Nanyang style arcades, and multiple courtyards.

Nanyang style houses are different from other houses in terms of exterior decoration, space layout, components, scale, etc. They are distributed in towns and villages such as Haikou, Wenchang, Qionghai and Ding'an.

The "Fu Family House" in Wenchang and the "Cai Family House" in Qionghai City are typical representatives.

"Arcade" is a typical verandah-style building with a covered sidewalk or corridor in front of the building.

It can keep out the wind and rain and keep out the sun. It is very popular in Southeast Asia.

The Chinese returning home from Nanyang brought this architectural style back to coastal areas such as Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, and Guangxi.

The old arcade street in Haikou condenses the history of the hard work of overseas Chinese in Hainan, and also witnesses the century-old changes of Haikou Port.

The museum condenses the history of the struggle of ancestors.

Now, a modern Hainan is emerging.

Haikou’s Jiangdong New Area’s headquarters economy has entered the "fast lane", the "Window of Global Trade" provides "one-stop" supporting services to trading companies from all over the world, and the Hainan Province Big Data Center enables "one game of chess across the province, and the same city across the island" The dream is no longer far away... and the overseas Chinese will also devote great enthusiasm to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and once again contribute to the overseas Chinese community.
