  • During his back-to-school press conference, the mayor of Bordeaux had requested the permanent installation of a CRS company, as is the case in other large cities.

  • From September 29 and for a few weeks, a half-CRS company will be deployed in the sensitive Saint-Michel district in Bordeaux.

  • The mayor's request came against the backdrop of an increase in the number of stabbing attacks in recent months.

From September 29 and until mid-October for the moment, a half-company of CRS, that is to say about thirty men, will be deployed in Bordeaux at the request of the new mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic (EELV) , struggling with a wave of insecurity for several months.

This workforce "will come to reinforce" the local police force, "within the framework of the national plan of reinforced security" for the popular district of Saint-Michel, located in the Old Bordeaux, indicated the prefecture, which obtained this Thursday this " favorable arbitration ”.

The operation differs from the detachment of CRS and mobile gendarmes announced on Monday to enforce the strengthening of health measures in the city of Bordeaux affected by a strong increase in Covid-19.

The mayor (EELV) Pierre Hurmic, who put an end to 73 years of rule of the right in Bordeaux, had wanted the installation of a permanent CRS company, or some 70 additional police officers.

"The other large cities in France have one and Bordeaux had one at one time," he said last Thursday at a press conference.

đź”´ Satisfaction to learn today of the deployment of a half CRS company in #Bordeaux as part of the national security plan.

My appeal to reason has been heard!

We will take stock with @ PrefAquitaine33 to ask for its sustainability and strengthening.

Bordeaux has been facing for about a year a multiplication of attacks, especially with knives, and incivilities, which have increased since deconfinement.

Some are attributed to a few dozen young migrant delinquents qualified as “unaccompanied minors” but sometimes adults, a phenomenon which has increased recently.

They would be "between 60 and 100", according to the municipal team.

In the first semester, 44% of acts of juvenile delinquency were committed by these young people, left to themselves in the street, according to the prefecture.
