US President Donald Trump's election campaign Thursday denied what was stated in a report published by the Guardian newspaper, which included an accusation by a former model that he sexually assaulted her during the 1997 US Open tennis tournament.

In the report, the newspaper stated that Amy Dorries said in an exclusive interview with her that Trump assaulted her, palpated her body and forcibly kissed her outside the toilet in his VIP booth in the championship stadiums, when she was 24 years old.

The newspaper said that Doris' mother, friends and a therapist confirmed the story, as she had informed them of Trump's alleged actions immediately after their occurrence and over the years that followed.

Doris, a 48-year-old mother of two, said she considered speaking out about the incident in 2016, when several women brought similar charges against the then-Republican presidential candidate.

But she decided not to apply in part because she thought doing so might harm her family.

On the other hand, Trump's re-election campaign Thursday denied the allegations, saying they were false.

"The allegations are completely false," said Gina Ellis, the Trump campaign legal advisor.

But the Guardian newspaper returned to confirm in an email that it adhered to its report, and published pictures that it said Doris had provided and showed her presence with Trump, and said that it had interviewed people at the time, whom Doris had contacted at the time of the incident.

This is a new allegation of sexual assault against the president weeks before the presidential elections scheduled for November 3.

Before Trump's 2016 presidential election, several women reported harassment allegations against the US president.
