An environmental technical study shows that PFAS levels up to 20,000 nanograms per liter have been found in the groundwater in and next to the Kistinge industrial area.

The value is significantly higher than the guideline value of 90 nanograms per liter of water.

- We are talking about very high levels so it is serious.

The levels are so high that it can have consequences both for human health and the environment, says Per Leander, unit manager for the Environmental Protection Unit at the County Administrative Board.

According to the County Administrative Board, there may be individual wells north and west of Trönninge Church that contain PFAS substances that exceed the limit value.

Therefore, Halmstad municipality does not recommend drinking or watering animals from individual wells in the limited area in Trönninge until samples have been taken.

How has this been possible?

- We do not know the source or the sources.

We have several industries operating in this area, and that is one thing we will move forward with.

We will move forward in our supervision, says Per Leander.

Safe to drink municipal water

Drinking the municipal water in the area must be completely safe according to the County Administrative Board.

It was established after new samples showed that the drinking water in the adjacent community Trönninge should not have been affected by PFAS substances.
