Keith Krak, the US Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, arrived in Taiwan on the afternoon of the 17th.

Since the break-up between the United States and Taiwan in 1979, it is the highest rank as a member of the State Department. It is a visit to Taiwan by a senior U.S. official for two consecutive months following the Minister of Health and Welfare last month.

Vice Minister Krak will meet with Taiwanese senior citizens including President Tsai Ing-won for 3 days and 2 nights to discuss economic cooperation measures.

Tomorrow, I will be attending a memorial event for former Taiwan President Li Denghui.

As China has accused former President Lee of ``a crushing of Taiwanese independent forces,'' the US has made it clear that it intends to empower President Tsai Ing-Won and keep China in check.

Moreover, Vice Minister Krak is the person who promoted the'Economic Prosperity Network', a new global supply chain that excludes China, and urged countries around the world to exclude Huawei.

China, which considers Taiwan to be an unrecovered area, and is advocating one Chinese principle, has strongly opposed it.

[Wang Won-bin/Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The United States must deal with Taiwan issues carefully.

China will take necessary measures as the situation develops.]

The day before Vice Minister Krak's visit, the Chinese military introduced two anti-submarine patrol aircraft into Taiwan's air defense identification area.

During Secretary Aiza's visit last month, Chinese fighters also created tension as they crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait.
