A 'torture complex' found in a small Brabant village gave a shocking picture of the Dutch underworld.
In July, the police raided a shed with seven sea containers that together turned out to be a prison.
Reporter Joris Peters attended the first hearing in this case.
Six thoroughly insulated containers were arranged as cells with buoys and a chemical toilet where victims could be held for a long time.
A seventh was to serve as a torture chamber.
It contained a dental chair and instruments of torture were found.
Six men are on trial in the case.
They are suspected of preparing for multiple kidnappings, hostage taking, aggravated assault, extortion and participation in a criminal organization.
