During the spring, the number of electric scooters exploded in Stockholm.

According to the traffic administration, about 12,000 electric scooters roll on the streets of Stockholm.

As they have become more numerous, accessibility has deteriorated and litter has increased.

Therefore, parking attendants will now start moving the carelessly parked electric scooters, explains traffic councilor Daniel Helldén (MP).

- We are testing a team space that is used to move incorrectly parked cars for a shorter distance, says Daniel Helldén (MP), who has the political responsibility for the issue in Stockholm City Hall.

- I think this will be a great solution and more efficient than before when we removed electric scooters by car, says Daniel Helldén (MP) Photo: Lisa Liljefors, SVT

Test period to begin with

On Monday, about 200 of the city's parking guards will start finding out about incorrectly parked electric scooters.

- We start with a trial period of two to three weeks.

Then we will evaluate and trim the system.

This also needs to be worked on in the traffic committee and the municipal council before we can start charging the electric power companies.

It is estimated that it will be around SEK 300 per electric scooter, says Daniel Helldén (MP).

"Electric scooters are heavy to move"

Petra and Annika are parking attendants on Östermalm and will now start moving away from carelessly parked electric scooters.

- It is not the case that we should look for electric scooters that are incorrectly parked.

But if we see that they stand in the way, we take care of the problem.

There will be one more thing that is part of the whole work, says Petra.

- Parked electric scooters are heavy to move.

I will not agree to pick thirty or forty a day.

But a couple of pieces a day work, says Annika.
