It was on March 13 that 26-year-old Breonna Taylor was shot to death in her home while she was sleeping.

Three plainclothes police officers entered the apartment due to a drug investigation.

According to the police themselves, they knocked on the door several times before breaking in and were met by gunfire.

However, Breonna Taylor's boyfriend has testified that no one knocked on the door and that he thought they had a burglary and that he shot in self-defense.

In the shooting, Breonna Taylor was hit by eight of the police bullets and killed.

A police officer was also injured.

No drugs were ever found during the operation.

No-knock warrants were banned

The police who entered the apartment had a so-called "no-knock warrant", which means that they had permission to search the house without having to warn or knock.

But in June, "no-knock warrants" were banned in Louisville, Kentucky.

- All she wanted was to save lives, with this law she will continue to do so.

She had been so happy, said Breonna Taylor's mother Tamika Palmer after the message.

After Taylor's death, there have been major protests in Louisville and the rest of the United States.

Gets twelve million dollars

Breonna Taylor's family now receives twelve million dollars, just over 105 million Swedish kronor, in exchange for withdrawing their lawsuit against the city of Louisville.

They have also received promises of reforms within the local police.

- Even though this day is significant, it is only the beginning to get full justice for Breonna, says Tamika Palmer after the announcement.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer after the deal.

- I can not even imagine the pain that Tamika Palmer feels and I am really sorry for Breona's death, he says.

At the end of June, one of the police officers was fired during the operation, while the other two are still suspended.

A criminal investigation is underway into the fatal shooting, but so far no charges have been brought.
