As noted, he announced his resignation during a working meeting with the heads of the regional authorities.
"Savchenko informed the participants of the meeting about his decision to early terminate the powers of the governor of the Belgorod region in connection with the election as a deputy of the Belgorod Regional Duma," the message says.
According to the official, he wrote a corresponding statement addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On September 22, it is planned to consider the issue of vesting Savchenko with the powers of a member of the Federation Council, the press service said.
