At least one blue will land in the quarter-finals of the Internazionali d'Italia strictly behind closed doors, as Matteo Berrettini and Stefano Travaglia will meet up against each other in the second round.

The Roman tennis player, seeded number 4 and eighth in the ATP ranking, after the bye on his debut defeated the Argentine Federico Coria in the second round with a score of 7-5 6-1.

Waiting for him now, the Marches Stefano Travaglia, who beat the Croatian Borna Coric 7-6 (2) 7-5.

But the feat of the day was signed by Jannik Sinner.

The South Tyrolean 'Next Gen' stops the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, third seeding force, by 6-1 6-7 (9) 6-2, thus proving to have overcome, physically and psychologically, the exit in the fifth against Khachanov at the US Open.

Second bitter round, however, for two Sicilians.

Out in the second round, among women, the Tuscan Jasmine Paolini, eliminated 6-3 6-4 by the Romanian Simona Halep, seeded number 1. Finalist at the last US Open, the Belarusian Victoria Azarenka stops the American debut Venus Williams 7-6 (7) 6-2.

In the second round the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, seeded number 10, and the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.
