China News Service, Phnom Penh, September 16 (Reporter Ouyang Kaiyu) The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia made a statement on the 16th on the United States' sanctions against Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia, Youlian Group.

On September 15, the US Treasury Department issued a statement claiming that it would impose sanctions on China Union Development Group Co., Ltd. projects in Cambodia in accordance with the "Global Magnitsky Bill of Rights" and the relevant administrative orders of the US government.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia pointed out that, as everyone knows, the “Cambodia Comprehensive Investment and Development Pilot Zone and the Seven Star Sea Tourism and Holiday Special Zone Project in Cambodia” is approved by the Cambodian government and invested by the Chinese private enterprise Tianjin Youlian Group's Youlian Development Group Co., Ltd. Large-scale integrated project.

The project complies with Cambodian laws and regulations and has contributed to the promotion of Cambodia's economic and social development.

The spokesperson pointed out that the US government, ignoring the facts and citing its domestic laws to impose sanctions on Chinese-funded projects in Cambodia on unwarranted charges, is a naked hegemonic act.

The US's suppression of the legal investment of Chinese-funded enterprises in Cambodia has not only harmed the legitimate rights and interests of related enterprises, but has also grossly trampled on Cambodia's sovereignty.

The spokesman said that the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia strongly opposed and condemned this.

We urge the US to immediately correct this wrong approach and revoke the so-called sanctions.
