In order to receive support to be able to pay their rent, vulnerable industries, such as restaurants and shops, have been able to apply for support from their landlords.

- It has helped us.

Each discount can mean that a person has been able to continue working, says Sadoo Iskandarani, restaurant owner.

Received financial support

Sadoo Iskandarani's restaurant quickly received help from its landlord in various ways - including rent reductions.

And after he as a tenant has received financial support from his landlord, it is in turn the landlord's task to apply for state housing support.

- We have had approximately 200 tenants in vulnerable industries who have applied for support from us.

And we have made a total of rent reductions worth 14 million and of these we have been able to apply for state support for three million kronor, says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of the real estate company Whilborgs.

"Are there landlords who refuse to help"

She emphasizes that it is the tenant who should have the support and that those as landlords are only an intermediary.

- It can be the case that different landlords handle this in different ways and it can be different for tenants, she says.

Sadoo Iskandaranis owns two restaurants in Malmö and has received rent support at both premises via the various landlords.

- But I have colleagues in the industry where the landlord has refused to give a discount on the rent.

Actually, it would have been easier if we applied for it ourselves - we are the ones who need it, he says.
