Seizing 5 stores and issuing 3 offenses for selling and collecting local oysters without a license

The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, has seized (5) fish-selling facilities in Abu Dhabi city that sell local oysters known as (dog) without submitting records and documents that specify the source of the product in the event that shellfish imported from outside the emirate are traded within the authorities' plans The competent authority in the Emirate to preserve and develop living aquatic resources in a way that contributes to enhancing biological diversity through the application of laws, monitoring their implementation, compliance with them, and controlling violators.

During the joint campaign, which was launched at the end of last August, (10) facilities were inspected in the city of Abu Dhabi and (10) facilities in the Al Dhafra region, including Delma Island, while a final warning was issued to the violating establishments and warned them to prohibit the circulation of local shellfish without submitting the records and documents identifying the source. The product is in the case of handling imported shellfish from outside the emirate.

The authority stated that the campaign will continue during the coming period, during which many field inspection visits will be carried out targeting establishments for trade in fish and live aquatic resources at the emirate level.

This campaign is considered an expansion of the scope of the ongoing campaign that was led by the authority in coordination with the competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which is concentrated in the Salamiyah area and the Bu Al-Sayayef marine reserve, in order to reduce fishing violations and the extraction of shellfish in these areas that are targeted by some individuals and sea-goers for unlicensed fishing. 3) The offenses for collecting local shellfish known as duj and two offenses for fishing with prohibited nets during the joint operation that was carried out during the months of August and September of this year, when the violators were referred to legal procedures.
