Putin reaffirmed his readiness for constructive interaction on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda.

The Russian President noted that this "would meet the interests of the peoples of Russia and Japan, would contribute to strengthening stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world as a whole."

Earlier, the Japanese parliament by a majority vote approved Yoshihide Sugu as the country's new prime minister.

Later, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said that the Japanese government is determined to develop relations with Russia in various fields, including the issue of concluding a peace treaty.
