The left and environmentalists could agree on a single candidacy for the presidential election of 2022. If Anne Hidalgo swears in public that she will not be a candidate, the entourage of the mayor of Paris does not rule out this hypothesis.

As the presidential election approaches, negotiations around a possible single candidate on the left are resurfacing.

If socialists and environmentalists agree that the rally is a necessity, the question of the candidate remains a thorny subject.

If no suitor has made himself known yet, Anne Hidalgo could be part of the list.

The PS mayor of Paris, reelected clearly this summer, may swear in public that she is not a candidate, his entourage does not close the door.

Its platform turned into a political structure

"This is the strategy of the Arlésienne: everyone is talking about it but it is not there", analyzes a socialist baron.

But that does not prevent those around Anne Hidalgo and others from thinking about it for her.

Her re-election as mayor of Paris, by allying with environmentalists, places her in a position of strength.

And it's true that things are moving around her: her platform "Paris en Commun" has turned into a political structure.

In July, it was thus displayed with environmentalist and socialist mayors in Tours.

And she accepts it: she wants to participate in the creation of what she calls "a citizen energy in the cities".

"A threat" for EELV

Anne Hidalgo's camp is temporizing, but without closing the door: "If one day an application must be considered, it must be obvious".

A hidden ambition that may worry some environmentalists.

"She is one of the personalities able to unite. And it is a threat," recognizes an EELV executive.

Courted or feared, Anne Hidalgo applies for the moment the famous principle of the presidential election: always think about it, never talk about it.
