The firefighters intervened on Wednesday on a fire which broke out around 6:30 am in a small hamlet located in Saint-Jean-des-Champs (Manche), near Granville.

The fire had spread to an unoccupied residential house and two 100 m2 garages containing agricultural equipment and various stored objects, reports

During an outdoor reconnaissance, a man aged around 40 was found hanged inside a shed.

The emergency services tried to revive him, in vain.

He was declared deceased.

An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie.

In total, around twenty firefighters from several rescue centers were dispatched to the site, says

Three fire engines were also deployed, as well as an aerial means, a supply vehicle and a command vehicle.

A fourth building was partially affected by the flames.

A fire was also observed in a fifth unoccupied building.
