Two days after the invalidation by the Ivorian Constitutional Council of 40 candidatures out of 44 including that of Laurent Gbagbo, his supporters react.

They condemn and challenge this decision, which is described as a “forfeiture” of a jurisdiction “instrumentalised by the current leaders”.

They also call for mobilization against the candidacy of Alassane Ouattara for a third term.

No boycott, no rallying for the moment.

The supporters of Laurent Gbagbo grouped within the EDS platform (Together for Democracy and Sovereignty) intend to challenge

the candidacy of Alassane Ouattara

and the invalidation of that of their leader in the street, despite the ban on demonstrations on the public road decreed by the government until the end of September at least.

It is a constitutional right, insists Georges Armand Ouegnin president of EDS.

The EDS launches an urgent call for the mobilization of activists and sympathizers of the member parties of the EDS platform, democrats of all stripes and the people of Côte d'Ivoire to face the forfeiture, the dictatorship of Mr. Alassane Dramane Ouattara.

And to put themselves in order of battle for demonstrations, in accordance with the Constitution, in order to accelerate the advent of the rule of law through fair, regular, democratic, transparent and inclusive elections
