Apple and the Singapore government have partnered on a two-year health initiative called LumiHealth, which is based on tracking and rewarding user behavior through the Apple Watch and the iPhone app.

According to a Bloomberg report, Singapore residents will be able to earn up to 380 Singapore dollars (equivalent to 280 dollars) in rewards and vouchers by completing the goals and tasks set within the app.

Goals include walking or doing other exercises like swimming or yoga, and the LumiHealth app will provide personalized training and reminders for health checks and immunizations.

The app's health challenges will encourage users to make better food choices and improve sleep habits.

The "Lumi Health" program is voluntary and the advertisement affirms that it is "designed to maintain user privacy and security."

According to Apple, all user data will be encrypted and none of it will be sold or shared for marketing purposes.

Its development has been requested by the Singapore government to solicit proposals from technology and healthcare companies to help improve the lives of its residents, and Singapore is well-known for being an early adopter of new technology.

"Even as we all around the world deal with the challenges of Corona, we must continue to invest in our future ... and there is no better investment than our personal health," said Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Heng Soi Kit.

Singapore was among the first to roll out a contact tracing app to help combat the coronavirus pandemic this year, and is expanding this effort by distributing codes that will allow residents to enter selected places, an effort that could pave the way for organizing large gatherings.

On Tuesday, Apple announced its latest update to Apple watches at its internet conference, which was characterized by the development of health tracking features significantly.

The American company has already collaborated with several healthcare organizations such as Stanford Medicine, helping to develop research and potential detection methods for various medical issues.
