Germany did not want a lone rider but a European solution.

Berlin still pleads for other countries to also welcome

migrants currently in Greece

.

On Tuesday afternoon, Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said: "

There is currently no other country ready for it

 ".

The pressure on the German government

had become too great

.

The grand coalition announced that 1,553 people or 408 families would be welcomed.

They are currently on different Greek islands and have been granted refugee status.

Germany had already announced on Friday the support for 100 to 150 minors.

Children in need of care and their families must also be welcomed.

In total, 2,750 people have to be transferred to Germany.

Berlin also still wants to achieve a European solution with other countries.

If it sees the light of day, Germany would welcome other migrants with its partners.

The deal reached on Tuesday drew criticism from Christian Democrats who fear their country will attract more foreigners and the far right will exploit the situation.

An official of the Greens, on the other hand, considered that the government's plan was only an alibi.
