In addition to mercury, there are permits to deposit twelve other types of waste that are still in storage at Rönnskär.

- We have reached the bottom and are breaking and building eight repositories, says site manager Linn Andersson.

The rooms are between 50 and 200 meters long and have a height of about 18 meters.

In the latter part of next year, the repository will be ready for use, and according to simulations, it will withstand both ice age and earthquakes.

- We can leave it behind for future generations, says Linn Andersson.

What happens when storage is full and how safe is it? The staff tells in the video above where you can follow down into the mountain.
