EP urged to impose sanctions against RT because of Lukashenka's support

A draft resolution proposing sanctions has been posted on the EP website. 

The draft document calls on the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to study the possibility of including in the sanctions list Russian citizens who support the “current regime in Belarus” through “propaganda and disinformation”, providing “political advice, economic assistance, and covert or overt support from the armed forces or special forces. " 

“<...> In particular, the management and staff of Russian state and state-funded TV channels, including VGTRK (TV channel“ Russia ”), Channel One and RT,” the draft states.

Earlier, the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry Tomas Petřicek said that the EU sanctions against representatives of the Belarusian authorities will come into force no later than September 21.
