It has been confirmed that over 3,000 people have been infected with Brucella disease, which is transmitted through cattle such as cattle in Lanzhou, China.

It is known that it became a mass infection because of the carelessness of a pharmaceutical company that made the Brucella disease vaccine.

Beijing Correspondent Song Wook reports.

<Reporter> At the

end of November last year, at the veterinary research center in Lanzhou, China, four patients with brucellosis suddenly occurred.

As the number of confirmed cases rapidly increased in the research center and in the surrounding area, sanitation authorities conducted tests on more than 20,000 Lanzhou residents.

As a result, so far 3,245 people have been diagnosed with Brucella disease.

[Brucella disease patient: I had a fever for 8 days, I was weak and sweaty.

I couldn't walk because my legs were swollen.]

Brucella disease, which is transmitted to humans through livestock such as cattle and sheep, has a mortality rate of 2% or less, but can cause spondylitis and osteomyelitis if not treated.

The outbreak occurred in July and August of last year when a plant in a pharmaceutical company in Lanzhou made an animal vaccine for Brucella disease and used an expired disinfectant.

Wastes such as exhaust gases from the vaccine production process were not properly sterilized, and they spread outside with brucellosis.

[Shanghai Dongfang Satellite TV report (last December): There was a veterinary laboratory in the windy direction from the factory, and I was infected by inhalation or contact with mucous membranes.]

Authorities canceled the factory's permit to produce a vaccine for Brucella disease in January.

Chinese media, Chai-Shin, raised suspicion of delayed response and reduction by authorities, saying that some patients with Brucella disease showed symptoms since September of last year, but it took six months to be confirmed.
