A gendarme commits suicide in Strasbourg with his service weapon

The body of a young 31-year-old gendarme was discovered this Wednesday morning in her official accommodation in the Strasbourg barracks.

She committed suicide with her service weapon.

She had just been transferred to the Alsatian capital, at her request, after having been stationed for several years in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (Haut-Rhin).

The soldier had been assigned to the intelligence cell since her arrival on August 1.

Described by her colleagues as "conscientious, very sociable, pleasant and devoted to her work" according to the

, she had just participated, the day before this desperate act, in a friendly meeting between entrepreneurs from the Sainte-Marie-aux- valley. Mines where she had appeared all smiles.

The investigation was entrusted to the Strasbourg research brigade.
