There will be no tamer, acrobats or clowns: the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival has been canceled and its 45th edition postponed to 2022 due to the health situation, the princely government said.
This is the third time since its inception in 1974 that this festival has not gone as planned, as it did after the accidental death of Princess Grace in 1982 and during the Gulf War in 1991.
“We had no other choice,” explains festival director Urs Pilz.
It's not just a circus show, but at least 20 nations, over 200 artists, large delegations.
