Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross met Qatari officials on Monday;

To start the third two-day strategic dialogue between the United States and Qatar.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States Mishaal bin Hamad Al Thani said that framework agreements on cultural and economic cooperation will be signed by the United States and a Qatari delegation headed by Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi.

"I look forward to making progress on this issue," Pompeo said in an opening speech at the forum.

The newspaper indicated that US President Donald Trump had spoken with Saudi King Salman on September 6 and called for an end to the dispute between the neighboring Gulf states.

In one possible outcome, analysts say, the United States could persuade Saudi Arabia to end its ban on Qatari flights over the kingdom.

Analysts added that the presence of Emirati officials in Washington to sign the agreement to normalize relations with Israel, which was brokered by the Trump administration, provides American officials with an opportunity to raise the issue of dispute with Qatari and Emirati diplomats.

"It's an opportunity for diplomats to get excited," said Simon Henderson, who leads the Arab Gulf and Energy Program at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

On his part, Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi expressed his gratitude for the American efforts to repair relations, and said in an interview yesterday, "Since the first day I have learned that the Americans are committed to this matter."

The newspaper pointed out that Qatar is unlikely to establish formal relations with Israel without progress in talks with the Palestinians or moving towards establishing a Palestinian state. The Qatari ambassador to the United States told reporters on Friday that "what Qatar wants to see in the region is stability and peace."
