China imposed a quarantine on an entire small city on the border with Burma, and launched a population examination campaign after discovering three new cases of the Coronavirus, as the city’s municipality announced yesterday.

China was able to encircle the "Covid-19" epidemic on its soil for months, and no longer recorded only a few new infections per day for Chinese returning from abroad, and imposed quarantine upon their arrival.

And 210 thousand people live in the city of Ruili, which is located in Yunnan Province (southwest) on the border with Burma, and it is an important transit point between the two countries.

Yesterday, the city’s municipality said that all residents must stay at home now and undergo a screening test, and made clear that it is no longer allowed to enter or leave the city at present.

On the other hand, all shops in the city were closed, except for supermarkets, pharmacies and food markets.

The municipality stated that the "Covid-19" patients arrived from Burma, and promised to pursue anyone who crossed the border illegally.

In recent months, China announced a number of local epidemics, one of them in Beijing, but it quickly addressed the situation by imposing a stone and identifying those in contact with the infected.

The Asian country remains closed to foreigners, with rare exceptions.

Yesterday, the Chinese Ministry of Health announced eight new cases of "Covid-19", all of them coming from abroad.
