Abdullah bin Zayed's speech during the signing ceremony of the peace treaty with the State of Israel

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, affirmed that peace needs courage, making the future need knowledge, and the advancement of nations needs sincerity and perseverance.

His Highness said: "We came today to tell the world that this is our approach ... and peace is our principle ... and whoever had his beginnings right, his achievements will be bright."

This came in his speech during the signing ceremony of the peace treaty between the UAE and the State of Israel at the White House today, the text of which follows.

His Excellency US President Donald Trump, His Excellency Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, gentlemen in attendance, peace be upon you, I am pleased to convey to you the greetings of the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates, and I especially mention His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Today I stand holding out a hand of peace, and receiving a hand of peace.

And in our religion we say: "Oh God, you are peace, and peace is from you."

The search for peace is a genuine principle, but principles are actually realized when they are translated into action.

Today we are witnessing an act that will change the face of the Middle East, and raise hope around the world.

This initiative would not have been possible without the efforts of US President Donald Trump, and his team, who sought diligently and sincerely, to get here, in particular my colleague, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Jared Kushner, senior advisor to the US President, and all those loyal to the principle of peace in the United States of America, who sought to achieve this Big achievement, thank you.

I also thank the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, for stopping the annexation of Palestinian lands, which strengthens our collective will to achieve a better future for future generations.

Gentlemen, we are witnessing today a new thought that will create a better path for the Middle East region. This peace treaty, which is a historic achievement for the United States of America, the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, will not stop its positive impact, rather we believe that its fruits will be reflected in the entire region. Every choice other than peace will mean devastation, poverty and human suffering.

This new vision, which began to be formed by our meeting today, for the future of a region full of young energies, is not a slogan we raise for political gains, as everyone aspires to create a more stable, prosperous and secure future.

At a time when science prevails, the region’s youth aspire to be part of this great human movement, and how happy we are that the UAE is part of this momentum towards stability and the growth of human potential, in a new civilized approach that opens the doors of opportunities wide for the benefit of those who love peace, prosperity and the future.

Our societies today possess the foundations of modern human development, including infrastructure, a solid economy, and scientific achievements that qualify them to advance the future of the Middle East.

Mr. President, The UAE believes that the role of the United States of America in the Middle East region is positive, and the proof is this treaty that we sign today at the White House, and which you have led, as it will remain in human history a beacon of light for all peace-loving people.

For us in the UAE, this treaty will enable us to stand more with the Palestinian people, and realize their hopes for an independent state within a stable and prosperous region.

This treaty comes to build on the peace treaties that the Arabs signed with the State of Israel.

As the goal of these treaties is to work towards stability and sustainable development.

Gentlemen, attendees, in this difficult year for the world suffering from the repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic, the UAE has strengthened its commitment to the humanitarian principles established by the founder Sheikh Zayed, who taught us that standing by the other, regardless of his religious or ethnic affiliation, is a humanitarian duty and a firm principle. .

At this difficult time, the UAE was able to launch a probe to Mars.

In fact, the "Probe of Hope" represents hope that our region will be able to rise and progress if governments and people adopt science.

After the UAE sent astronaut Hazza Al Mansoori last year to the International Space Station and launched the Salamah Nuclear Power Station, this agreement came to open wider prospects for a comprehensive peace in the region.

Gentlemen, Peace needs courage, shaping the future needs knowledge, and the advancement of nations requires sincerity and perseverance.

We have come today to tell the world that this is our approach, and peace is our principle, and whoever had his beginnings is right, his achievements will be bright, with the grace of God. "
